Inc. Magazine's annual rankings are based on annual gross revenue growth over a specified time frame subject to a minimum revenue threshold. SpaceWorks essentially doubled its annual revenues between 2007 and 2010. The magazine further notes that the Washington, DC metro area (home of SpaceWorks Commercial) has the highest number of companies on the Inc. 500 list in 2011. The Atlanta metro area (home of SpaceWorks Engineering and SpaceWorks Software) has the sixth most companies on that list.
"We are happy to have been selected by Inc. as one of the fastest growing businesses in the United States," said John R. Olds, Founder and CEO of SpaceWorks. "Even in a difficult economy, we've been able to sustain our growth and meet our customers' needs, and that is a credit to the hard work of our managers and employees. The U.S. space program is undergoing change, and with that change has come several new opportunities for fast and responsive firms like ours to engage on a variety of business fronts. To be listed among the top 40 fastest growing engineering firms in the country is quite an honor for us."
