Atlanta, 30 July 2012 - SpaceWorks Commercial, the new business development and incubator division of SpaceWorks Enterprises, Inc., has helped launch a new start-up business called Terminal Velocity Aerospace, LLC (TVA). TVA will produce and sell small protective space capsules for reentry data collection and small payload recovery. TVA's first product is a small device for gathering breakup data during reentry of a spacecraft or launch vehicle stage.
SpaceWorks Commercial, led by Dr. John Olds, and Dr. Robert Braun co-founded TVA in March of 2012 and the new company was officially announced on July 10. Dr. Olds is CEO and co-owner of SpaceWorks Enterprises, Inc (SEI). Dr. Braun is a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology and will concurrently serve as Chief Technical Officer of TVA.
SpaceWorks Commercial serves as an incubator for new business ventures and partnerships for which SpaceWorks has a financial interest or strategic role. The TVA technical and financial business concept was refined within SpaceWorks Commercial prior to the new company's formation. SpaceWorks Commercial will continue to help TVA grow by providing new venture incubator services such as managerial advice, market analysis, technical support, and shared office space in Atlanta and Washington, DC. SpaceWorks Commercial also holds a partial equity stake in TVA. TVA is a Georgia-based limited liability company.
