Overview

SpaceWorks Engineering, Inc. (SEI) introduces a conceptual-level engineering design and analysis tool for the performance prediction of liquid propellant rocket engines called Rocket Engine Design Tool for Optimal Performance, or REDTOP-Lite.

Chemical Equilibrium
REDTOP-Lite’s chemistry model utilizes the robust and industry-accepted technique of minimizing the Gibbs Free Energy to quickly and accurately obtain equilibrium combustion products.

Enhanced User Experience
Elect to access REDTOP-Lite via a number of user interface options. Choose to operate from a Graphical User Interface (GUI) on Windows-based platforms or from the command-line for execution on Windows™, Mac OS X™, and Unix™ platforms. A simple Microsoft™ Excel-based interface option is also available for running the tool or to combine it with other Excel-based analyses. Prepackaged with supporting files for use of the tool with Phoenix Integration’s PHX ModelCenter©, REDTOP-Lite is prepared to assist you with all your needs.

Expert-Based Efficiency System
Unlike many other preliminary rocket engine performance analysis tools, REDTOP-Lite features an expert-based system for computing engine efficiency factors. These efficiencies enable designers to predict the performance of the real engine and not simply a theoretical maximum, like most codes. This system considers factors such as the user-identified engine cycle and propellant combination. Users can also bypass this expert system and specify their own efficiency factors.

Expandable, Dynamic Propellant Database
Prepackaged with numerous fuel, oxidizer, and combustion product species data including fuels and oxidizers such as hydrogen, oxygen, methane, propane, hydrogen peroxide, NTO, MMH, and RP-1, REDTOP-Lite allows designers to immediately consider and analyze a wide array of engine propellant combinations. Or users can also easily incorporate your own chemical species into the analysis and control the potential resultant combustion products in an engine.
