Overview

SpaceWorks Engineering, Inc. (SEI) introduces a conceptual-level engineering design and analysis tool for the performance prediction of liquid propellant rocket engines called Rocket Engine Design Tool for Optimal Performance, or REDTOP-Pro.

Chemical Equilibrium
REDTOP-Pro’s chemistry model utilizes the robust and industry-accepted technique of minimizing the Gibbs Free Energy to quickly and accurately obtain equilibrium combustion products.

Engine Cycle Power Balance
A complete, steady-state power balance is performed for any cycle selected by the designer. Over 20 different engine configuration derivatives are available from the basic cycles of staged combustion, gas generator, expander, and tap-off.

Weight Prediction and Cycle Power Balance
A unique feature of REDTOP-Pro is its ability to determine the weight of an engine. The weight model uses both physics-based assessments and empirical trend data. Weights are provided at the major component level with supporting data obtained from the cycle power balance results.

Costs + Reliability
Unlike all other codes that merely compute performance analysis or only determine an engine cost, REDTOP-Pro performs both simultaneously. Additionally, a top-down reliability assessment is also performed.

Enhanced User Experience
Choose to access REDTOP-Pro via a number of user interface options. Operate on a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for Windows-based platforms or on the command-line for execution on Windows®, Mac OS X®, and Unix® platforms. Prepackaged with supporting files for use of the tool with Phoenix Integration’s PHX ModelCenter©, REDTOP-Pro is prepared to assist you with all your needs.

Expandable, Dynamic Propellant Database
Prepackaged with numerous fuel, oxidizer, and combustion product species data including fuels and oxidizers such as hydrogen, oxygen, methane, propane, hydrogen peroxide, NTO, MMH, and RP-1, designers can immediately consider and analyze a wide array of engine propellant combinations. Or you can also easily incorporate your own chemical species into the analysis and control the potential resultant combustion products in an engine.
